Welcome to the Ladysmith School District! Our school district consists of two buildings, Ladysmith Elementary School and Ladysmith Middle/High School, serving approximately 750 students. As a rural school district, our mission is to empower ALL students to achieve their best. We understand that what constitutes success for one student may look drastically different from what constitutes success for others, but the school district is committed to working with individual students to move each forward so that they can achieve their goals and realize our vision is to “ensure all students have the knowledge and skills for living, learning, and working successfully.”
Professionally, I have been a teacher and administrator for twenty years. I graduated from Cadott High School and attended UW-Eau Claire where I received my degree in English Education. I became an English teacher at Colby High School, and taught there for seven years before taking a position as high school principal with the Pardeeville Area School District. In 2021, I was selected as the District Administrator for the Pardeeville Area School District. Wanting to be closer to family brought me back to this area and I’m loving it. I have a wife, Kelley, who is CPA and two daughters, Navey and Elsie.
I have a bachelor’s degree in English education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from UW-Madison. Besides a principal and superintendent license, I also have a Director of Curriculum and Instruction license, Director of Special Education and Pupil Services license, and I am working on finishing up my PhD work at UW-Madison. What can I say, I love to learn!
In closing, a school district can not be successful without the support of many different people. The people in our buildings and our community make a difference every day for our students. Our staff is dedicated to meeting each child’s academic, social and emotional needs. Our School Board and district leadership are committed to providing each school with the necessary resources to ensure success. And, parents and community members give to our schools generously in terms of their time, talent, and resources. The recent completion of the facility referendum project shows the support the members of this community have for its buildings and grounds and the desire to provide an inviting and welcoming school environment for students, staff and community members.
It's certainly an exciting time for the school district and I look forward to working with not just those associated with the school, but the community as well. There are great days ahead in Ladysmith, and I am grateful to be part of them!
